So finally we have had some sunshine around here! Yippeeee! I am a sucker for some warm back-lit photographs. My lil love was even in the mood to "strike a pose" for me. Lately it has been like pulling teeth to get her to smile in a photograph but I made a promise that if she let me take her photo, then she could make any face/pose that she wanted. I didn't get many smiles but I feel that I still captured who she is right now. My lil love is going to be 10 soon- the big double digits! Hard to believe how fast this crazy life is going. I am so glad that I am able to capture it on film for all of us to enjoy and look back on someday.

Sweet Baby J was such a good little boy for me. I could not have picked a better, cuter, sweeter, snugglier one. Kinda feel like I am the luckiest girl on Earth.

I am so in love with this image below! I can't figure out why though! The hubs keeps saying "Why is there that blue dot on all of these?" I tried to explain lense flare and how I absolutely love what it adds to a photo but he just isn't a fan. Everyone is a critic eh?!

So I am home now and excited to do some much needed catching up! I will start with an update of my lil' cuties. They were very patient with me this year for our hiliday session and I think that they realized that the quicker they listened to me during photographs, the quicker they got to choose their treat! This session took all of 20 minutes and they pretty much did all the "posing" on their own. It is almost believeable that they really like eachother right?!

I think that this one is my favorite <3

Here is our card this year. I went with the accordian fold out style and while my husband thought it was a little excessive and referred to it as "the catalog", I loved the way it turned out!

I included the front and back file view since my product photography skills are not the greatest :)

We had a fantastic holiday with family and friends and I think we ended the year feeling pretty blessed to be living the lives we have. Lots more to come......

Miss Chezney joins a mom and a dad who are crazy-head-over-heels in love with her!! Clearly first time parents, they are at the "stare at the baby for hours stage". I remember the wonder and awe that comes with the first baby and it is so magical to see it through the eyes of others. I feel so lucky to be a part of it.

Mom has forever been known as "Bear" to her friends and family (and I think most strangers too) so I couldn't resist a baby bear photograph!

I am very aware that I have been a horrible blogger lately. I had such a wonderful holiday season with clients, family, and friends and I was too busy enjoying them to sit at my pc updating and miss all the fun. I am so excited to share all my holiday goodies with you, sneak peeks, cards, annoucements, a bazillion holiday sessions, personal sessions etc. I had intentions of doing so already this week, but of course life got in the way. My January is already starting off with a bang with 5 newborns to photograph in the first 5 days of the month! I did ask Santa for a baby for Christmas but I am thinking that he miss-interperted what I meant :)

I am going to share all my newborn yumminess with you before I head out of town for my Lil' Miss, and then on with the updates from December !!!

I am starting with my first newborn girlie of the year- Miss Callee. She was such a sweetie for me and it was a great way to start the year for sure! Doesn't she have the most perfect lips <3 <3

So, not only did we have to battle the weather for the AMAZING "F" family but right before our session, the dapper Mister Gavin took a dive at the Brewery and had to have his head glued shut! We talked about moving our session further into the winter to give him a chance to heal all up but we decided to go for it instead! A little photoshop magic for the final prints and he looks good as new! The weather was super iffy before and after our session but cooperated quite perfectly during. Mom wanted fall captured and I think that we succeeded. I am hoping that Mom and Dad were able to get their hands clean from my doodling on them above- I only had permanent markers on me :) Can't you just imagine Dad at work the following day giving a big presentation or something with "forever" doodled on his hand in girl writting...

So I met Mister Jasper when he was just a couple months old for his newborn photo session and have been lucky enough to have follwed this wonderful family ever since. First meet Miss Naevah who is the most expression-filled little girl. From her hands on her hips to the full belly laughs, Miss N was a dream to photograph. Don't you just LOVE her perfect curls?!

So these boys are everything a mom could ask for and more. They are kind, polite, well mannered, funny, and so incredibily handsome- which makes also makes them everything a photographer sould ask for! Baby Koah was not super impressed with all of our singing and animal sounds but mom worked her bootie off to get us some smiles.

Peyton- 6 Weeks....Humboldt County Newborn & Baby Photography

So when mom called and said she wanted to book newborn photographs for her 6 week old, I admit I started stressing! I was lucky enough that my 3 week old cooperated from the post below, but 6 weeks is pushing the luck! I talked with mom about her expectations and some ideas that we could play with if she just didn't feel like sleeping or curling up into a cute lil' ball. Well, low and behold, Miss Peyton was a superstar! I am so proud of her for letting me capture her "newness".

She even woke up for a bit and let us peek at her pretty blue eyes.

The hat below was the one and only request from dad. Doesn't she just rock it!?

OK.....so technically baby Travin is not an old man but he is a bit older than the newborns I usually shoot are. I warned mom before our session not to get her hopes up for those super sleepy konked-out shots since Travin was older and probably wouldn't sleep for us. Well I had to eat my words for sure! Mom followed my sleepy baby tips to a "T" and with super cooperation from the lil' bebe, VIOLA!!!!

I can tell you that for sure that if it was me, I would not want to spend my 5 year anniversary getting my photographs taken by me! The "O" family were great sports about the whole thing being as that I could only book our session on that special day. Don't feel too bad, they were looking forward to celebrating their 5 year the next night instead at a great restaurant and without the kids!

Ahhhhhhh.......with all my my family and child photo sessions these last couple weeks, I was beginning to forget how easy it was photographing seniors and Miss Sydney was the best! Not only did I not have to chase her, or make ridiculous noises and faces at her, she was a non-blinker. I usually take multiple shots of each "pose" just in case I catch a blink or something. Well, in going through Sydney's proofs, there was NOT ONE that I had to delete! She was the ultimate pro and drop-dead gorgeous to boot!

So there are actually 4 members of this amazing family but 2 of them were a bit more in the mood for photos- well let's make that 1 was REALLY willing to model for me and the other one just tolerated me because I think he knew he didn't have a choice! I started photographing the Bailey family when lil' Miss Chloe was just born and now look at her. She has grown into the most beautiful girl and clearly the apple of her daddy's eye!

Dad was in a nasty fall a few days before our shoot so we had to do some creative poses to hide the damages.

Here is her handsome brother Caden. He had a smile to make you melt but he mainly gave them out when my camera was pointed anywhere else but at him!

So meet the super fun "C" family. I have had the pleasure of photographing them since little sister was born and every year since. All of our sessions have been so fun together and we always get to walk away with some amazing images that we have captured. I love love love the first image even though you can't see anyones faces. This is the kind of image that I would blow up super large and hang since years down the road, you wouldn't look at it hanging on the wall and totally laugh at the clothes you were wearing or the funky hairstyle that you were sporting. To me it is a timeless image that tells a story with just the difference in the size of the hands. Don't worry, we got some with faces as well........enjoy your lil' peek!

I love when mother nature helps me out with a photography session. It was so windy the day of our shoot that it was like my own personal wind machine following me around! So first off let me take care of some business.

Miranda Renner Photography will be closed from Friday Oct 1st through Sunday October 3rd. All calls and emails will be returned on Monday the 4th.

Now....on to Miss Sister and her purple hat! I know there are a ton that I posted but I am having some major issues. One of the main reasons that I grew this passion for photography is because I absolutely love capturing moments with my kids. Everytime I wake up in the morning, Kenzie looks a bit taller, talks a bit older, and her morning snuggles are getting a bit shorter. Capturing her on "film" somehow fools me into thinking that I am slowing down time a bit. I struggle editing down her photographs and just keeping the "good" ones. Every single one of her photographs are good to me. It doesn't matter if they are out of focus or her eyes are closed- every one reminds me of one of her silly looks, or that one face she makes, or that one time when......happened. It is true that every picture tells a story and I just want to remember every story there is about her.

So, when Miss A called and booked their yearly family session with me, I was thrilled but when she told me that she had her eye on this teal vintage couch that she wanted to use, I was even more thrilled! It is really important to me to try and keep each photography session unique to each family so we agreed to use this great location that really means a lot to them. Mom and Dad were married here and we have taken many of their family portraits here year after year. Of course Miss Ella was ready for anything....

Well, it's keeping the dad happy of course!!

I am blessed enough to get to photograph the L family every year. As you can tell by our images below as well as our images in the past, the L family is one that is based on love and fun! As I look through the proofs from our session every year, I am so glad to have captured the "true" L family as they are. I feel like we suceed in documenting a moment in time exactly as they are. I am sure that downig a few beverages during our session helps with that as well :)

I knew that I wanted another girl super bad but after this session, now I want twin girls!! Double the clothes, double the hair pretties, double the tea parties, double the fingers and toes to paint.....I could go on and on. These babies were definitely on to me though. My usual tricks did not pull many smiles out of them- they were more just looking at me with pity for acting like such a fool trying to get them to smile!

don't they have the most amazing blue eyes?? I love love love that brown hair and blue eye combo!

it was super hard tyring to chose what shots to keep from this session because I COULD NOT for the life of me tell who was who and I wanted to make sure I didn't print the proofs all of one baby! Thank goodness they changed outfits halfway through!

I did manage to get a few smiles captured but you know that I am a sucker for the serious looks!

So, the kids are finally back in school and that means that I can finally get caught up around here! Don't get me wrong, I love love love spending time with my kiddos but it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep current on my workload. So I wasn't sure Mister M was going to sleep for me at all. He sure did put up a big fight...not cranky but just super curious and head-bobbin around. He finally went out for a bit so we got got a few awake and some asleep as well. I had the pleasure of doing his big sister's photos 3 years ago and she was the same way! I do think I believe that ALL of her shots were awake ones though.

So this gorgeous family left the heat in Roseville and came all the way to me for their session which meant that picking the location was up to me. I decided on this wonderful spot with lots of different options- open fields, rolling hills in the distance, a neat old barn, tall grass etc. Well, as self described "city folk", the kids didn't know quite what to think once they hopped out of the car. It was kind of like a nature exhibit for them. We saw frogs, ladybugs, thistles (which the kids were strangely excited by), and even heard rumors of a snake- YIKES!! Even thouh the weather didn't cooperate, the kids did so all in all it was a blast to shoot.

Mom & Dad couldn't keep their hands off eachother ;)...

I laughed out loud when this photograph dowloaded on my screen. Mister K is the happiest, smiley baby, but when you have the camera in front of him, he is all business. I seriously am thinking of a way to get this baby to come live with me for awhile. Doesn't he just melt your heart??

I have been lucky enouh to capture this family for the last five or so years. I got to document births, birthdays, anniversaries, and life. That is probably my favorite part of my job- getting to meet the most amazing families and getting a glimpse into their lives. I am so honored when people chose to use me again and again because it is so amazing to get to watch their lives grow in all these wonderful directions.

The day of this shoot, it was probably about 45 degrees out with the yuckiest mist and wind. Of course the "M" girls were perfect little angels for me. First up is big M. She had some model moves for me for sure!

I am completely obsessed with little M's profile. IT IS THE CUTEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!! I think that I took 35% of her pictures from the side.

She was getting cold and ready to be done with me so I hid some jelly beans in the flowers for her and this is her "no peeking" face.

Yes, I am very aware about how bad I have been about posting 'lil peeks lately. I think at this point I am 11 sessions behind! With B away at fires and my insomnia setting in, I think that I am going to get caught up in no time at all. This session was super crazy. There were 5 kids all under the age of 5. The little peanut above was not wanting to give me any other looks other that scowls, so dad stepped in to the rescue! You can tell the effect he has on her!

Worst idea ever!!...(Humboldt County Children's Photography)

So I found the MOST BEAUTIFUL location for a photo session. It had tall wheat grass, waist high white daisys, a perfect lone tree, a gentle breeze, and most importantly perfect lighting. After hiking 17 miles to it (up hill both ways) carrying a stroller, 2 kids, 3 backpacks, and my out of shape bootie, we also discovered that my "perfect" location also included all the biggest fattest ticks that you could possibly imagine! Thank goodness that mom and the kids were super good sports and didn't complain about all the exercise. We had to high tail it right back out of there super quick where we proceeded to strip down in the middle of a field and do a full body (yes FULL BODY) tick check on eachother! We ended up going to a new location all together but we couldn't shake that heeby-jeeby feeling that things were crawling all over us. Not the best idea on my part but we still ended up having a blast and a successful session. Thank you "Z" family for being such troopers. Hope you didn't have as many nightmares that night as I did. So here is Mister Diego. He was so much fun to play with at the beach. He however, DID NOT like the water! We rolled down hills, we played ball, we collected shells, but we did not play near the waves. Don't you just love his super shiny hair....mine doesn't look at all like this when it blows in the wind! And of course, he got the lashes to die for as well. Lucky boy!

I feel so blessed to have gotten the chance to photograph these beauties. They must have gotten so used to being squished together in the tummy because whenever I posed them into a perfect position I would step back to take the photograph and they would smooch together and put their faces as close as could be. There were times when one baby would be sucking the other baby's finger or face! Can you tell why I "heart" the one below??

People often comment to me how cooperative my kids appear to be when it come to photographs. I laugh whenever I hear this because I know that it takes practically an act on congress to get both of my kids to even look my way when I take their pictures. I have found 2 things that work for me with my crazy maniacs. The first in bribery. My kids will do ANYTHING for sugar and so they will almost always get to pick out a treat when I am done with their mini session. The second thing is by far the most useful. We play a game called my way, your way. I get to set up a picture my way first and in return, they get to do a picture their way second. Their way is always crazy and insane and this too can produce some hilarious images but it also makes it really fun for them to take pictures and they are almost always still giggling from "their way" by the time it is "my way" again. I could post probably 500 images that make me bust out laughing from this game but I will post just some from earlier this week when I was testing out my light for my little girl session below.

The funny thing is that I most often prefer "their way" photographs because it just reminds me of the real way my kids are. Miss Kenzie has started getting really interested in photography and has started suggesting different ideas and getting really creative. She got a camera for Christmas and has made many attemps at dog photography!!

So I am finally posting pictures from our amazing trip. You will have to forgive my super long post but I took soooooooooo many photographs. My camera broke a total of 6 times I think while I was down there but I could get it to work 30 percent of the time and still ended up with 1600 pictures. The above picture was in Playa Del Carmen. It had the most AMAZING beach. You could see the most beautiful clear water for miles and miles. It was about 15 minutes to the town from the resort we were staying in and the beach is just at the end of the main shopping street. We didn't bring any of our swim stuff otherwise we would have stayed at this beach all day long. Below is Kenzie's sand castle at our hotel and then Colson perfecting his cannon ball at the pool.

Here is Colson hangin by the pool. Our resort had 6 pools and so we would stay at the beach and play from 8 in the morning until around 1 and then we would try a different pool everyday int he afternoon. He is such a stud!

They had the best sand for sand castles. It was super fine and compacted perfectly. We probably made 30 while we were there!

We did a day trip to go zip lining all day and then rented a lil John Deer gator to take a ride through the Jungle. The last zip line run ended through the waterfall and in the water. It was so much fun but I was heading in too fast and when I hit the water, my swim bottoms fell down to my knees. The man who was there to help unhook you at the end was laughing sooo hard that he could barely get me off the line.

Makenzie's mcktwist and then my favorite place to spend my mornings. The resort was running about 58 percent occupancy and it seemed like we were the only ones at whole place most of the time.

The first day we were there, there was some seaweed that was washing up and the kids loved having seaweed fights with it

We went on an underground river swim through the cenotes. I HATED this soooooo much. You couldn't see your feet and I was super spooked that something was going to grab me and pull me under. The water was super cold and the caves got darker and smaller and snaked and twisted for like 45 minutes. Not sure why my family was soooooo cooperative with the pictures...

for this zip line run, the kids got to go at the same time. You can't tell by the picture but they were waaaaaaaaay up high. You passed over alligators and other animals and were way above the tree canopy.

Kenzie read 2 full chapter books while we were there. She was in heaven just lounging and reading- two of her favorite things.

While Kenzie read, Mr C would spend all his time building sand castles and then destroying them and then diving through the waves

Here was my other favorite place to hang out. They had 10 or 12 of these lining the beach for you to lay on. My only complaint is that the second you got comfortable, you fell right to sleep! It ould have been that Joaquin knew what I liked to drink and kept bringing them to me here all day long!

I was excited to get some neat sunset shots I had planned with the kids. Well it really threw me off that the sun rose over the ocean here instead of set over the ocean. I could not drag my kids out that early in the morning for nothing so here is my attempt at sunrise pictures.

Brian spent one day fishing and ended up with 4 fish total. This one was his biggest. I was hoping he was going to catch a huge Marlin or sail fish but in retrospect I am glad he didn't because i'm sure he would have wanted to ship it home and mount it in my house! It was the best trip ever and there are sooo many more to share but I think that my clients would like to see their peeks that I promised them. I can't wait to go on another vacation but with fire season around the corner, I am sure we are going to have to wait until next year. Unless I go without Brian.....hhhhhmmmmmm

Long time no blog huh???!! Well it isn't for lack of goodies to show- it's from lack of time to show it! We are sadly back from our amazing vacation from Mexico. I had the most unbelievable time with the best family evah- mine!! I have soooooooo many photos to share as well as too many client sneak peeks to list. It will take me a couple days to get time to go through everything and post but here is a little taste of what warm weather actually looks like....I know we have forgotten around here. So this cute lil family was traveling to me to get their photographs done and I think we had to cancel 3 times due to our horrible winter weather. Finally they traveled here and brought the sunshine with them!! I think it was meant to be because everything worked out great in the end. It was a whopping 61 degrees here and everyone in our town was in shorts and tanks. Where the B family traveled from, it is normally in the 90's- 100's and so they thought we were all crazy!

Torture the Boy....(Humboldt County Children's Photographer)

So Makenzie and Colson play this game all the time called "Torture the Boy". It sounds fun right?? Here are the rules......you can do anything you want to the boy (ie Colson)- the more torturous the better- and as long as you say you are playing the game, he can't get mad at you and you can't get in trouble. I was looking back at some past photo sessions with my kidos and I noticed that they play this game ALOT!! I am going to print a whole book filled with photographs of Makenzie tourturing Colson. What amazes me is that they are the same height and weight but Colson just takes it instead of suggesting they try "Torture the Girl". He is going to make a great husband some day!

Miss Sidney was keeping me fully entertained during our session with directions on how to rope- as in cowgirl roping. I wish we had a rope there for her to demonstrate to me because her eyes just lit up when she spoke about it. Miss Sidney was also a kidder. She clearly didn't know how terrified I am of snakes becuase she kept teasing me that there was some slithering around my feet in the grass! So I am proofing a session from yesterday when this image comes up on my srceen. For some reason, I xoxoxoxoxoxo this image and I can't figure out why I am so drawn to it. Well hanging next to my computer in an 8x10 print is this picture below of my baby boy when he was just a lil peanut. The image on the left totally reminds me of the one on the right of Colson and I am forced to dig through my archives to find it. Hours later and a proofing session behind, I am convinced that my babies are growing up waaaayyy to fast. I reminiced over every little picture that I came across and the farther I went, the sadder I got. I am feeling like I need to have another baby just so I can experience it all over again! Sorry "G" family- your proofs are going to be a day late but I will post a sneak peek for you on Monday :)

So I am still in shock as I write this out. My baby girl is going to be 9 this week. There are so many things that I remember so vividly about Makenzie from when she was a baby that seem like just last year. I am so impressed with how she is growing up. She is kinder and braver than I could have ever hoped for. She is so independent and silly and she stands by her own beliefs and ideas even though they are at the opposite end of mine. She can't wait to grow up even more and reminds me constantly that she is "almost 10". Miss Kenzie is the ultimate daddy's girl. They have this bond that is so strong that I don't even pretend to understand. They finish eachothers thoughts and ideas and have all these personal inside jokes that Colson and I don't comprehend. Even though I am saddened by how fast time is going by, I am excited to see Miss Kenzie's hopes and dreams play out in the future. She is the ultimate blessing to this family and we are so proud of her and the person she is turning out to be.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl.....we love you bigger than the moon.

So we are back from UCSF. Miss Kenzie did soooooooo wonderful. I am constantly suprised by how brave she is. She was a such a trooper through all the tests and the "hugenormous" (her words) needles. We have zero results back yet and so now we just wait it out which is the hardest part for me!

And since I didn't get to post a sneak before I left, I will delay no longer! I made Kenzie and Colson look at all the pictures from this session where the brother and sister looked like they loved eachother. My kids have been fighting like mad but these two were so funny together! I totally felt like an outsider during our photo session. I could have stayed and photographed them for hours. I have sooooo many that I love but not enough room to post them. Enjoy.

Sweet Kendall.....(Humboldt County Baby & Children Photography)

The mustard fields are in full bloom around here and I have already had a handfull of shoots in them as well as another handfull already scheduled. It is a challenge for me each session to try and create different images so all the "mustard sessions" don't start looking the same. I drug my stroller out from the depths of the closet and hoped it would get used. Miss Kendall was a peach for this shoot. I was feeling yucky and the weather was yucky and I had Colson with me for this shoot which was yucky for me, but thank goodness Miss Kendall was up for anything.

Doesn't it just remind you of Goldilocks and the three bears? A bed that is juuuuusssttt right.... I found this bed at one of my favorite stores down south last week. I could not wait to get to use it on a willing model. Doesn't this lil guy look willing enough?! I have a million that I just love from this session but I will only post a few. I am really feeling a bit vintage lately and sent the first picture to print in a neat vintage wash. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Thanks for looking.

Wow!! It sure is amazing how much easier boys are than girls for senior portraits!! Chase was so laid back and easy going and even Tom the dog was well behaved. They will post a bit grainy as I am using a way lower resolution.....found a few of my pictures on another site again :(

Can you believe that this baby was TEN POUNDS!!! What a trooper mom was!Holding him made me long for another baby to snuggle but hearing about his birthweight made me put that thought right out of my head! I have another newborn Cooper this week as well but he was much smaller. I sure hope he sleeps as well as this lil monkey!

so I was blessed with another newborn boy to photograph and 3 more boys scheduled for next week.....where are all my girls at?? There is going to be a serious shortage when all these boys get to high school!

I am just lovin his super full lips...

and big sister......she was obiviously not too impressed with me!!
